Improvements Released Today

Likes and Dislikes

Today we are launching several changes to the public profile of our djs.

In the past a dj could only post one photo each, and list event places where they have performed and add a comment to each.  That was fine when we started the site back in 1997.  But now we have so many more djs and storage space is less expensive allowing us to show much more.

  • Now we have add some new features to their public profile on our site.  Upgraded members will (as of today) be able to show event photos, dj photo, or equipment in their profiles.  They also can write captions or comments to any photo or gallery. (example)
  • In addition we have added the ability to add YouTube videos into the dj’s profiles.  Videos can show a whole story and really demonstrate what services are being offered.
  • Likes and Dislikes section allows you to leave your mark.  If you found the information valuable you can add a ‘like’.  If you did not like what you saw add a ‘dislike’ to the dj’s profile. (example)
  • ‘Report Abuse’ allows users to report a public profile for having bad language or content. We always strive to have a clean, quality web site and appreciate your help in keeping it that way.

We hope that these and many other future features are a benefit to the disc jockeys and users to the site.  If you have and ideas for us to further improve our website, email us from the contact us page.

Jazz Cocktail Reception – Class Through Jazz

Jazz wedding cocktail hour

What do Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Billie Holiday, and Dizzy Gillespie have in common?  They all can bring a touch of Magic to your affair without making your reception feel and sound like a day in the elevator.

Picking the right jazz music for a cocktail hour is important to add just the right sound you are looking for.  Playing the right songs by the right Jazz artists is step one. Communication with your wedding DJ or musicians is key to making sure your cocktail hour and dinner music has a magical feel and not a drab ‘background music’ feel.

Volume is also very key.  I find that upbeat jazz music can be energetic and classy at a low volume level.  Turned up too high and it is obtrusive and obnoxious as “background.”  The same goes for soft jazz pieces, if the volume is too low, you probably won’t here the finer details of the music.

A quality DJ or musician knows this and if you spell out clearly what you are looking for in jazz music, he or she won’t just through in a Kenny G disc and call it a cocktail hour.
